Emma and friends on the first day of junior year at W&L.

Hello!

I’m Emma Myer, a junior at Washington and Lee University, double majoring in Strategic Communication and Cognitive and Behavioral Science. I’m passionate about exploring how communication influences the way people think, feel and make decisions. This interest has guided both my academic studies and my professional experiences.

Experience

Last summer, I worked as a marketing intern at Klinedinst PC, a full-service law firm in San Diego, where I created social media content, wrote press releases and produced internal newsletters. That experience strengthened my skills in branding, design, and storytelling across digital platforms. On campus, I write for InGeneral, W&L’s student-life magazine; serve as Public Relations Director for Kappa Kappa Gamma; and co-host a WLUR 91.5 FM radio show covering pop culture and campus life.

During my time at Washington and Lee, I have taken classes like Digital Journalism, News Writing, PR Writing and Communication Theory and Research Methods. These classes have expanded my understanding of communications and the variety of paths I could pursue in this field.

Personal

Outside the classroom, I love bodysurfing, playing tennis, cheering on the San Diego Padres, cooking Spanish food with my family and spending time outdoors.

Looking ahead, I hope to pursue a career that blends my interests in strategic communication and psychology, crafting messages that effectively engage and connect with audiences.
